Russet - Baskets

This apple is the most prized among apple connoisseurs.  It is a medium-sized apple that is russeted bronze over greenish gold and speckled with white lenticels.  The flesh is creamy and dense, yielding a rich, aromatic juice and is high in sugar and acid and low in tannin.  This apple makes excellent juice and is often used for hard ciders.  This fruit stores well and tastes better throughout the winter months.  The flavour of this apple is often described as nutty, but it also has a delightful honeyed sweetness.  This apple is great eaten fresh and good for baking.
