Discovered in 1811 as a chance seedling by John McIntosh of Dundela, Ontario. Medium size; irregular round shape; green apple with red splash; white, juicy flesh; mildly tart, sweetens as it ripens. Excellent for eating fresh, baking pies and sauces.
